Instagram experiments with feature allowing content creators to use their own ‘chatbots’

Meta Unveils New AI Chatbot Feature for Instagram Content Creators in US, Paving the Way for a Future with Generative AI.

Meta has announced that it is currently testing a new feature for Instagram content creators in the United States. This feature allows content creators to create their own ‘chatbots’ using the AI Studio platform, which was initially designed for developers to integrate into messaging applications.

September last year, Meta announced its plans to introduce generative AI (GenAI) to its platforms to enhance user interactions with AI agents like the Meta AI assistant and the EMU sticker generator. The company has now extended this platform to content creators, providing them with tools to create their own AI software.

Mark Zuckerberg, Meta’s CEO, made the announcement on his Instagram channel. He revealed that the company is currently testing a feature that allows interaction with ‘chatbots’ created by content creators. These assistants will be rolled out gradually over the next few weeks and labeled as AI in the direct messages section.

The feature is currently available only in the United States for about 50 content creators, and it remains unclear if and when it will be officially released globally. However, Zuckerberg emphasized the importance of creating various APIs that cater to different interests and enable creators and businesses to use AI effectively.

According to Zuckerberg, these tools are meant to explore different formulas that generate trust and entertainment for users. Through these tests, Meta aims to determine the best ways to leverage AI for creators and businesses on the platform. This experimental phase will allow users to test functionality and provide feedback on its efficacy.

In summary, Meta is testing a new feature that allows Instagram content creators in the US
