Lyon Officially Names Pierre Sage as Permanent Head Coach Amid Europa League and Coupe de France Success

Pierre Sage has been named the new permanent head coach of Lyon, following his successful stint as interim coach since November 2020. During this time, Sage led the team to secure qualification for the Europa League and advance to the final of the Coupe de France.

As a result of these achievements, Lyon has officially offered Sage the position of head coach on a permanent basis. In addition to Sage, three additional staff members will be joining his backroom team. Among them is former Valenciennes coach Jorge Maciel, who will be responsible for overseeing training methodology for the team.

Sage’s contract as head coach will run until June 2026, indicating the club’s confidence in his ability to continue leading Lyon to success in the future. With his proven track record and strong leadership skills, Sage is poised to guide Lyon to even greater heights in Ligue 1 and beyond.
