Leupolz Joins Real Madrid Femenino: A Midfielder’s Quest for Success in the Women’s Game
Melanie Leupolz has officially joined Real Madrid Femenino from Chelsea Women. The 30-year-old midfielder is making the move to the Spanish capital after a successful spell with the Women’s Super League champions.
During her time with Chelsea, Leupolz won four WSL titles, three Women’s FA Cups, and one League Cup trophy under former manager Emma Hayes. Her success on the international stage includes winning the 2013 European Championship and the 2016 Olympics before retiring from international duty.
Leupolz will now be competing in the same league as Barcelona players Lucy Bronze and Júlia Bartel, who are expected to make a move to Stamford Bridge soon. Real Madrid is determined to challenge the dominance of their great rivals in the women’s game in Spain and Leupolz is expected to be a key player in Albert Toril’s squad. Her experience and success both domestically and internationally make her a valuable addition to the team as they look to make an impact in the women’s game in Spain.
