Legacy Continues as LaVar Arrington II Commits to Penn State Football Program

LaVar Arrington II, a promising football player, has just committed to playing for the Nittany Lions at Penn State. The younger Arrington is a three-star recruit and ranked as the No. 41 player in California and the No. 31 weakside defensive end in his class by Rivals. Standing tall at 6-foot-2 and weighing 210 pounds, he had an impressive junior season at Charter Oak High School in Covina, California, recording 65 tackles and 12 sacks.

His commitment to Penn State marks the 21st player in the 2025 recruiting class for coach James Franklin. The coach has already secured top talent such as four-star cornerback Daryus Dixson from Mater Dei in Santa Ana, California. Franklin is thrilled to have another talented player on board and can’t wait to see what Arrington II can do on the field.

LaVar Arrington’s son follows in his father’s footsteps to Penn State. The elder Arrington was an All-American and Hall of Fame linebacker at Penn State from 1997-99. He earned multiple All-America honors and prestigious awards such as the Jack Lambert Trophy, Dick Butkus Award, and the Chuck Bednarik award during his time at Penn State. He even finished ninth in the 1999 Heisman Trophy ballot. Following his college career, he was drafted No. 2 overall in the 2000 NFL Draft by Washington and had a successful career in the NFL before retiring due to injuries in 2006.

In recognition of his outstanding collegiate career, LaVar Arrington was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame in 2002. Now that his son is following suit, their legacy continues to captivate fans and leave a lasting mark on football history.
