Kyutai Research Lab Unveils AI Open Science Program

A new non-profit laboratory dedicated to open research in artificial intelligence (AI) has been founded by the iliad Group, the CMA CGM Group, and Schmidt Futures. Kyutai aims to tackle the main challenges of modern AI by developing large multimodal models and inventing new algorithms to enhance their capacities, reliability, and efficiency. The laboratory has already attracted a team of researchers with academic and business backgrounds.

Rodolphe Saadé, President and CEO of the CMA CGM Group, stated that this new investment in AI will bring together the world’s best experts to address the challenges of AI. He added that Europe’s got everything it takes to win the AI race, with French researchers being known as being the best in the world. Xavier Niel, Chairman and Founder of the iliad Group commented that Europe has all the computing power needed and a hyper-dynamic AI ecosystem. By creating an AI open research lab in Paris, they are stepping up the pace even further. Kyutai will give them ultra high-performing, reliable AI models which will benefit the entire European AI ecosystem. Patrick Pérez, CEO of Kyutai added that they are building an exceptional research team and immersing themselves in major challenges of modern AI while looking forward to sharing first results of their open research with community soon.
