Battle faced off against Kirksville in their final home game of the regular season. The first half was uneventful with both teams going scoreless until halftime. However, Kirksville came out strong in the second half with two quick goals within the first eight minutes, setting the tone for the rest of the game.
Tigers’ Lauren Albright scored two goals early on and continued to dominate the field, eventually scoring a third goal later in the game. As Kirksville maintained possession of the ball, Lucy Tiedemann took advantage of a Battle defensive error and scored a goal, extending their lead to 3-0. Tiedemann continued to impress with back-to-back goals, bringing the Tigers’ lead to 4-0.
Battle’s goalie, Ainsley Craver, made some impressive saves to temporarily halt Kirksville’s momentum. However, Kirksville didn’t let up and with Carrigan Maggart assisting Kate Vincent in scoring another goal. With ten minutes left in the game, Kirksville secured a 7-0 lead over Battle, resulting in Battle’s 15th consecutive loss.
Kirksville’s victory set them up for their upcoming Class 2 District 8 Tournament against Chillicothe. Meanwhile, Battle will compete in the Class 4 District 6 Tournament against Blue Springs South.
