Biden’s campaign is struggling to regain support after a disappointing debate performance on Thursday. According to NBC, the president’s top donors have been informed about the financial implications of ending his presidential run. In response, Julie Chavez Rodriguez, Biden’s campaign manager, recently spoke with around 40 of his biggest financial backers to address their concerns.
During the call, Chavez Rodriguez assured donors that Biden had no intentions of giving up on his 2024 run. However, she also mentioned that the majority of the campaign funds would be directed towards Vice President Kamala Harris with a smaller amount going to the Democratic National Committee. This information has caused tension within the Democratic Party as there are growing concerns within Harris’ camp regarding potential replacements for Biden if he were to withdraw from the race.
In a speech to supporters in North Carolina, Biden candidly acknowledged his shortcomings while emphasizing his ability to speak the truth. Despite this, he expressed his firm belief that he could still fulfill his duties if he were to run for office again. However, reports suggest that Biden’s family is urging him to stay in the race and blaming his top aides for his debate performance. Furthermore, influential Democrats like Gov. Gavin Newsom of California and Gov. Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan are being considered over Harris as potential replacements for Biden if he were to withdraw from the race.
Despite all this speculation surrounding Biden’s future plans, discontent is mounting within Harris’ circle as allies are reportedly frustrated that other politicians are being prioritized as potential replacements for Biden. However, representatives for Biden have yet to respond to inquiries about the situation indicating that they may be keeping an eye on events unfolding before making any decisions regarding their next move forward or decision making process for Joe’s future plans
