Former NBA player Jerry Stackhouse signs on as an assistant coach with a NBA team

Jerry Stackhouse Finds New Opportunity as an Assistant Coach on the Golden State Warriors’ Coaching Staff

Following the end of the 2023-24 season, the Jerry Stackhouse era at Vanderbilt came to a close. During his tenure as head coach, Stackhouse compiled a record of 70-92 and failed to make any NCAA Tournament appearances. However, he quickly found a new opportunity in the professional ranks.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski, Stackhouse is set to join Steve Kerr’s coaching staff with the Golden State Warriors. He will be one of two assistants hired by Kerr for the upcoming season, alongside Terry Stotts who will serve as the lead assistant coach. The Warriors had to fill two vacancies on their coaching staff this offseason and Stackhouse was selected to join the team.

Before joining Vanderbilt, Stackhouse had coaching experience with the Toronto Raptors and Memphis Grizzlies under J.B. Bickerstaff. He also interviewed for the head coaching position with the Charlotte Hornets before Charles Lee was ultimately hired for that role. Before transitioning into coaching, Stackhouse had a successful NBA career after playing college basketball at North Carolina where he was a two-time All-Star and retired from the NBA in 2013. Now, he is looking forward to his new role with Steve Kerr as an assistant coach on the Golden State Warriors’ coaching staff.
