Jalen Hurts is seen as a more vocal leader by Lane Johnson

Jalen Hurts Leadership Style: From Stable to Outspoken in the Eagles NFC East

During the 2023 Eagles season, there was a lot of debate about what went wrong for the NFC East club. One aspect that was heavily discussed was quarterback Jalen Hurts’s leadership style. While he was praised for his stability during the team’s run to the NFC title in 2022, questions arose about Hurts’s approach as the Eagles struggled towards the end of the 2023 season. Despite no public criticisms from within the team, right tackle Lane Johnson shared his observations on The Rich Eisen Show. According to Johnson, he noticed that Hurts had become more vocal and outspoken in his interactions with his teammates, indicating growth in their relationship.

Johnson stated, “Just this offseason, he’s really done a good job of bonding with his teammates. I feel like the connection has definitely grown. A really big offseason. The work ethic has never been an issue. Tremendous worker. But, just becoming a more vocal leader and, whenever he speaks, guys listen up.” Looking ahead to the 2024 season, if the Eagles do not make significant improvements, there may be speculation about the future of head coach Nick Sirianni and others, including Hurts. However, Johnson expressed confidence in Hurts and reiterated that he is the team’s quarterback moving forward.

Johnson said, “Every year is kind of a prove-it deal to everybody when you’re in that town. Jalen’s our guy moving forward. We love him, we respect him, and nobody puts in more work than he does.” The progress and results of Hurts’s efforts will be closely monitored and scrutinized by fans and analysts in Philadelphia during the upcoming season.

In conclusion, Jalen Hurts has shown growth as a leader by becoming more vocal and outspoken with his teammates during offseason training sessions. This has led to improved relationships with his teammates despite struggles on field during the 2023 season.
