Italian Government Allocates €235 Million for Cultural Preservation and Restoration

In the coming years, Italy will undergo a three-year public works program with a budget of 235,424,970.15 euros. The Minister of Culture, Gennaro Sangiuliano, has signed a decree outlining the various interventions that will take place across the country. For 2024 alone, 63,710,789.33 euros have been allocated from the Ministry of Culture’s budget.

The funds have been distributed among different sectors, with archaeology receiving 23.46% of the budget, fine arts and landscape getting 42.71%, museums receiving 19.54%, archives getting 5.82%, and libraries receiving 8.47%. Over the course of the three-year program, the fine arts and landscape sector will receive the largest amount of funding at 86,535,304.36 million euros, followed by museums with 66,604,660.17 million euros and archives with 18,600,831.40 million euros.

Libraries will receive a total of 19,929,810.05 million euros over the three-year period. The funds will be distributed across different regions in Italy. Lazio will receive the largest amount at 38
