Indian Team Shines at World Archery Championship: Women’s Final Approaches in Shanghai

Aditi Swami, the current under-18 and senior World Archery Champion, expressed her joy at the success of their shooting process. She hopes that the Indian men and women can replicate the victory they achieved at the World Cup in Paris last year, where they both won team gold medals. The Indian team lineup includes Swami, Asian Games Champion Jyothi Surekha Vennam, and Parneet Kaur. However, they are currently without their coach, Sergio Pagni, who was key to their successes last season and is attending a camp in India.

The Indian women will be competing against Italy in the final of the competition in Shanghai. Marcella Tonioli from the Italian team acknowledged that there were some errors made during the match, but overall it was a good competition. The 10th seeded Dutch men also won a tiebreak against France to secure their spot in the final, with Mike Schloesser, Sil Pater, and Stef Willems shooting three perfect X-ring 10s.

Schloesser was surprised by the result considering they entered the bracket as underdogs. The Kazakhstan women’s team and Korean men’s team both secured bronze medals at the end of the session. Recurve qualifying continues this afternoon in Shanghai as archers prepare for more intense competition ahead.
