Hungarian Football Star Barnabas Varga Injured in Euro 2024 Game, Undergoes Surgery and is Now Recovering at Home

Hungary’s forward Barnabas Varga played a crucial role in helping his team finish third in Group A at Euro 2024. However, during a match against Scotland, he suffered a serious injury after colliding with Angus Gunn. At the age of 29, Varga fractured his cheekbone and had to undergo surgery in Stuttgart, Germany. Fortunately, he was released from the hospital on Wednesday and is now recovering at home in Hungary.

In an announcement on Ferencvaros’ website, Varga expressed his gratitude for the support he has received following his injury. He stated that he was glad to be back home and is now focusing on his recovery. Despite the incident that occurred during the game, Varga remains positive about his rehabilitation process and is determined to return to the field as soon as possible.

The Hungarian Football Federation also confirmed that Varga had been released from Stuttgart Hospital and was now recovering in Hungary. During the match where Varga got injured, Hungary defeated Scotland 1-0. The game was paused for nearly seven minutes while Varga received treatment on the pitch. Hungary captain Dominik Szoboszlai was visibly emotional during this time and later criticized the medical staff’s response time.

Despite Szoboszlai’s concerns, Uefa denied any delays in medical treatment provided to Varga at Stuttgart Arena. On the following day, Hungary’s coach Marco Rossi along with his coaching staff and player Endre Botka visited Varga to show their support for him during his recovery process.
