127 workers suspected of food poisoning from the meal

Hundreds Ill After Mysterious Meal at Song Cam Shipbuilding Company

On June 27, 127 workers at Song Cam Shipbuilding Joint Stock Company fell ill after consuming a meal that included braised chicken, peanuts, braised mackerel, grilled pork with betel leaves, and other dishes. The Hai Phong Department of Health was informed about the incident and initiated an investigation.

Following lunch, many workers began to exhibit symptoms such as rashes and red faces. Symptoms escalated to vomiting, stomachaches, and diarrhea around 12:30. A total of 127 affected workers were transferred to various hospitals in Hai Phong, with seven individuals experiencing severe symptoms such as rashes, cold sores, and palpitations.

Medical professionals at Viet Tiep Friendship Hospital diagnosed these individuals with anaphylactic shock and provided appropriate treatment. All patients are currently in stable condition and under observation. The workers reported that the meal included braised mackerel, which was consumed by most affected individuals, making it a suspected cause of the food poisoning incident.

The lunch at Song Cam Shipbuilding Joint Stock Company was catered by Thanh Hung Service Company Limited, which had recently obtained a food safety certificate. Samples of the dishes served have been collected for testing to determine the exact cause of the food poisoning outbreak. Director Le Minh Quang from the Hai Phong Department of Health assured that further information will be provided once the investigation is complete.
