U.S. Marine reunites with the sick dogs he cared for and nursed back to health while serving overseas

Hero Marine Reunited with Beloved Dogs after Battle with Parvovirus Thanks to SPCA International’s Patriot Pets Program

Gunnery Sergeant Craig Wooten, a United States Marine, was reunited with two dogs he rescued while deployed in the Eastern European nation of Georgia. The American serviceman and his wife went to Los Angeles International Airport on June 29 to pick up the fully recovered dogs and take them to their new forever home. Latte and Biscuit, both battling canine parvovirus, were nursed back to health by Wooten, giving them a second chance at life after losing their siblings to the infection.

The reunion was made possible by SPCA International’s Patriot Pets Program, which has successfully reunited over 1,200 servicemembers with their furry companions. The dogs appeared to be loving their new life right away, joyfully greeting their new owners at the airport and exploring their fresh surroundings.

Wooten took the pups to the vet daily and provided them with care until they were healthy. The patriot pets program helped connect Wooten with his beloved companions while he was deployed overseas. The program provides support for military families who have been separated due to deployment or other military-related reasons.
