Austria Airlines, or AUA, is currently on the hunt for full-time flight attendants. According to their homepage advertisement, candidates will undergo two months of training before beginning their employment with a gross annual salary of 31,080 Euros, which translates to 1,717 Euros net per month. The company highlights the benefits that come with the job such as a provided uniform and the opportunity to work in one of the most livable cities in the world.
To qualify for the position, applicants must have a high school diploma or completed vocational training, be fluent in English, have an EU passport or unrestricted access to the Austrian labor market, and live close enough to the airport to report within 90 minutes when on call. After five years in the role, flight attendants can expect to earn 2,337 Euros gross per month while after ten years this increases to 3,475 Euros gross per month.
The union representing AUA flight attendants, Vida, has made public salary information for the profession. Flight attendants will receive a flat rate wage regardless of whether they are working long or short-haul flights. The collective agreement in effect from March 2020 to December 2022 included a salary reduction of 15-20%, which was later reset to its original amount with some employees experiencing real wage losses due to inflation.
