Greyhills Academy Students Win Top Awards for Revolutionary Water Quality Solutions at Arizona Science and Engineering Fair

At the 2024 Arizona Science and Engineering Fair held from April 4-6 in Tempe, Greyhills Academy High School in Tuba City made a significant impact. During the fair, seniors Daneyah Chief and Shyla Manygoats presented their project titled “Enhancing water quality in arid regions: a sustainable approach for safe drinking water.” Their dedication to finding innovative solutions to environmental challenges caught the attention of the judges, leading them to win three prestigious awards in the earth and environmental category.

Out of 383 senior contestants from across Arizona, Chief and Manygoats secured top spots, earning both medals and cash prizes for their outstanding work. The project focused on improving water quality in arid regions, which is an essential issue facing many communities. The researchers emphasized the importance of finding sustainable solutions for safe drinking water in these areas, highlighting this topic’s relevance to Arizona’s environment.

Their success at the fair demonstrates Greyhills Academy High School’s commitment to fostering scientific research and innovation among its students. It also sheds light on important environmental issues facing communities in arid regions, such as water scarcity and pollution.
