Darren Waller’s decision to play still uncertain, says Joe Schoen

Giants GM Joe Schoen’s Uncertainty About Darren Waller’s Future in 2024 Leaves Fans Worried

New York Giants general manager Joe Schoen has stated that tight end Darren Waller’s future with the team in the 2024 season is uncertain. Schoen said at the league meetings that Waller has not yet decided whether he will retire or continue playing, which comes after Waller mentioned earlier in the month that he would be making a decision soon.

The Giants are giving Waller the necessary time to make up his mind. Last year, Waller was acquired by the Giants in a trade with the Raiders and made 52 catches for 552 yards and scored one touchdown during the previous season. However, he missed five games due to a hamstring injury, which has been a recurring problem for him in recent years.

Currently under contract with the Giants through 2026, Waller is set to earn a non-guaranteed salary of $10.525 million for the upcoming 2024 season. With his uncertain status, the Giants are preparing for various scenarios and will respect his decision, whether it involves retirement or continuing to play in the NFL.
