Liverpool reject opportunity to sign Newcastle’s Gordon

From Standout Player to Unsold: Liverpool Keeps Anthony Gordon, Newcastle Faces Setback in Transfer Pursuit

Newcastle United was recently interested in acquiring Anthony Gordon from Liverpool, but the deal fell through. The Liverpool forward had been a standout player for the Magpies, scoring 11 goals in the league last season and being named the club’s player of the season for 2023-24. However, Liverpool did not see it as beneficial to part with him and ultimately rejected the offer.

Despite Newcastle’s interest, Liverpool was not willing to give up on 21-year-old Quansah. He has become a regular starter for the team and was even included in the preliminary England squad for Euro 2024. With a strong lineup of forwards including Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo, and Diogo Jota, Liverpool did not feel it necessary to add Gordon to their squad.

Gordon made a late appearance as a substitute for England in their recent Euro 2024 match against Slovenia. Paris St-Germain is also reportedly interested in him. Newcastle has been contacted for comment regarding the failed deal with Liverpool.
