In 2022, Blane Cross was diagnosed with stage 4 Hodgkin’s lymphoma at the young age of 14. This moment marked a significant turning point in his life. Chemo treatment left him unable to be around people or outdoors, including mowing the lawn, something he had loved since he was three years old. Mowing had always been a source of joy and peace for Blane, and not being able to do it made him realize how much he valued it.
After six months of chemotherapy, Blane was declared to be in remission. He was granted a wish through Make-A-Wish North Texas, and instead of a vacation, he asked to start his own lawn care company. Blane viewed this opportunity as a chance to pursue something he loved and was passionate about.
Blane’s father, Greg Cross, remembered how Blane always wanted to play outside with his toy mower while Greg mowed the lawn. Superscapes gifted Blane with everything he needed to start his lawn care business, with his family cheering him on. Blane expressed his gratitude and joy at having his wish come true. Make-A-Wish representative Meredith Clements highlighted the impact of volunteer support in making dreams like Blane’s a reality.
Reflecting on his journey, Blane shared that life can be tough at times, with trials and challenges. However, pushing through can lead to blessings and provisions in the end. His goal is to launch Cross Cuts soon and is currently savoring the moment.
