In an effort to combat the growing issue of suicide, a local healthcare system, Franciscan Health, is offering free suicide prevention courses in the Chicago area. These courses, based on a curriculum developed by the QPR Institute, will teach participants how to recognize warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade and refer someone to help.
There are several upcoming courses in different locations. Franciscan Health Michigan City is hosting a course on April 30th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Central time. To register for this course, contact Community Health Improvement Coordinator Nila Williams at Nila.Williams@franciscanalliance.org. Franciscan Health Olympia Fields is hosting a course on May 20th from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Central time
