Former Broncos Quarterback Trevor Siemian Signs with New York Jets
On Monday, the Jets made a significant change to their starting quarterback, benching rookie Zach Wilson in favor of veteran Tim Boyle. The team also announced that Trevor Siemian, who had been on the practice squad since signing with the team earlier this year, will serve as Boyle’s backup. Siemian was officially signed to the team’s active roster on Tuesday. In addition to these moves, the team added cornerback Craig James to the practice squad.
Although Siemian has some experience as a starter, having filled in for an injured Sam Darnold in a game for the Jets in 2019, he suffered an ankle injury early in that game and missed the rest of the season. He has also had stints with the Bengals, Bears and Saints, starting games for each of those teams. Despite his experience as a starter compared to Boyle, who has only started one game for New York so far this season against Jacksonville Jaguars ,the Jets are choosing to go with the younger Boyle as their starter for now.
