Florida A&M’s Top Three Players Prepare to Defend Celebration Bowl Kendall Bohler, James Ash, and Ashton Grable
The Celebration Bowl Champions are preparing to defend their title with three standout players returning in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC). HERO Sports named Kendall Bohler, James Ash, and Ashton Grable as the best at their respective positions.
Bohler was ranked as the top returning FCS cornerback, coming in seventh nationally and first in the SWAC. In 2023, he recorded 39 tackles, 14 pass breakups, and an interception in the Celebration Bowl. He received numerous accolades, including being named to the All-SWAC First Team and the BOXTOROW All-American team.
Ash was recognized as the best FCS returning defensive tackle, ranking 19th nationally and first in the SWAC at his position. He ended the 2023 season with 32 tackles, six tackles for loss, and an interception. Ash’s performance earned him a spot on Phil Steele’s All-SWAC Fourth Team.
Grable was named the best returning SWAC interior offensive lineman by HERO Sports. In the 2023 season, he started all 11 games, with seven at left tackle and four at right guard. He allowed only two sacks on 370 pass-blocking attempts and was responsible for multiple key blocks. His performance earned him a PFF grade of 70.1 in pass protection.
