On Thursday, a group of Pro-Palestinian protestors set up an encampment inside the Fashion Institute of Technology in Manhattan. The day began with demonstrators storming into The Museum at FIT on W. 27th St. and Seventh Ave., where they took over the lobby and chanted “Free, free, free Palestine.”
As the day progressed, around 60 protestors remained in the lobby, setting up tents and a sign that read “FIT Gaza Solidarity Encampment.” An additional 20 protestors outside passed supplies like blankets, cardboard, and markers to those inside while security guards prevented more people from entering the building. Despite this, students continued to camp out as the museum remained closed.
Despite the situation, the NYPD had not yet responded to the college as of Thursday evening. The encampment inside the Fashion Institute of Technology was a visible display of support for Palestine as protestors made their voices heard through their actions and chants.
