Ferrari and SK On Unveil Partnership to Propel Battery Technology Forward

Italian sports car maker Ferrari has announced a partnership with SK On, an electric vehicle battery maker affiliated with SK Group. The memorandum of understanding was signed at SK’s headquarters building in Seoul on Tuesday, with SK On CEO Lee Seok-hee and Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna present at the event.

The collaboration between the two companies is aimed at driving innovation in battery cell technology. By leveraging their respective expertise, SK On and Ferrari plan to expand their technological collaboration and exchange valuable insights. Lee expressed excitement about joining Ferrari’s electrification journey and highlighted the goal of offering customers new experiences and values through the partnership.

Similarly, the Ferrari CEO expressed high expectations for the collaboration, emphasizing the importance of shared ideas driving shared progress when companies and suppliers work together. Since 2019, SK On has been an exclusive battery supplier to Ferrari, providing battery cells for its plug-in hybrid electric vehicles such as the SF90 Stradale, SF90 Spider, 296 GTB, and 296 GTS. The partnership between SK On and Ferrari aims to continue pushing the boundaries of innovation in electric vehicle technology.
