In the Lower Zambezi National Park, a unique event took place when a mother goose fearlessly confronted an eagle to save its chick. Wildlife expert Kyle Branch from Classic Zambia Safaris captured this incredible moment on camera. The incident occurred while Branch was on a boat tour in the park.
The fish eagle, hovering above the water, spotted a young Egyptian goose as its potential prey. Sensing danger, the gosling quickly dove into the water to avoid the eagle’s attack. Despite its best efforts, the eagle managed to capture the gosling and flew away with it in its talons. The chase between the mother goose and the eagle began when the eagle landed on a patch of land to dry its feathers after catching the gosling.
Upon seeing the eagle holding its chick, the mother goose acted swiftly. With surprising agility, she charged at the eagle, causing it to release the gosling. Seizing the opportunity, the gosling made a run for safety in water. The mother goose then diverted her attention away from her escaping chick to ensure that she would make a safe getaway.
