Exploring the Significance of Studying the History of Science: A Lecture at the University of Kashmir’s Department of History.

The Department of History at the University of Kashmir (KU) recently organized an extension lecture on the significance of studying the history of science. The lecture, titled ‘Why Study History of Science?’ was delivered by renowned historian of Science, Prof Deepak Kumar.

Prof Kumar emphasized the importance of understanding the historical development of science and its impact on society. He argued that a deeper appreciation for the subject can enrich our knowledge and foster a better understanding of scientific advancements. His discourse sparked a lively discussion among the audience, highlighting the relevance of historical perspectives for scientists, historians, and the general public.

Head of the Department of History, Prof M Y Ganaie, took the opportunity to highlight the department’s academic achievements and ongoing research initiatives. He reiterated their commitment to promoting historical inquiry and scholarship, emphasizing that organizing such lectures is a validation of their dedication to academic excellence.

The lecture concluded with an interactive session where students and faculty engaged in discussions to further explore the history of Science.
