Exploring Health Care Opportunities at Lakeland Community College: An In-Depth Look at Cutting-Edge Programs and Outstanding Job Placement Rates

Lakeland Community College in Kirtland is hosting several free events this spring to introduce prospective students to careers in health care. The college is offering 11 events through April to showcase various cutting-edge and high-growth programs.

The highlight of the season will be the Health Programs Open House, which takes place on April 4 from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Attendees can tour Lakeland’s Health Technologies (H) Building and learn from professionals about careers in direct patient care and behind-the-scenes administrative or laboratory work.

Lakeland’s campus at 7700 Clocktower Drive in Kirtland will host the event, although registration is recommended, walk-ins are welcome. In addition to the open house, Lakeland is also offering individual sessions for programs such as health information management/medical coding, histotechnology, medical assisting, occupational therapy assisting, and surgical technology.

Health program classrooms at Lakeland are equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, including breathing manikins, a mock operating room, hospital beds, and a life-size ambulance simulator. Regina Prosser, the dean for health technologies at Lakeland, emphasized the outstanding job placement rates for degree and certificate earners in the college’s health programs.

There are a total of 21 health programs offered at the college, and the events provide an opportunity for prospective students to speak directly with faculty to identify their field of interest. As the demand for health care workers continues to increase, Lakeland offers accessible training for high-demand careers, with some programs placing students into the workforce in as little as eight weeks.
