More parking still to come at JAX as construction of Economy Lot 3 is finished

Expanding Parking Options at Jacksonville International Airport for Upcoming Summer Holiday Travel

Jacksonville International Airport is expanding its parking options in preparation for the upcoming summer holiday travel season. The airport has recently opened additional parking spaces in Economy Lot 3, with several hundred new spaces now available for public and employee parking.

Greg Willis, the marketing and public relations manager for Jacksonville Aviation Authority, announced that Economy Lot 3 is ready for use but will remain closed to the public until Economy Lots 1 and 2 reach capacity and the need for more parking arises. Employee parking has also been relocated to include approximately 800 spaces within Economy Lot 3.

In addition to the new economy parking spaces, plans for a new parking garage at the airport are in progress, with construction expected to begin towards the end of the year. The garage is projected to be completed in early 2026 and will provide around 2,000 additional parking spaces for travelers.

Travelers using Jacksonville International Airport during the summer holiday season are advised to arrive at least two hours before their departure time to account for potential delays related to baggage check, security screenings, and boarding flights. With expected high traffic days like Independence Day and holiday weekends, it is crucial to allow ample time for all necessary pre-flight procedures.

On July 3, the airport reported a significant number of travelers, with thousands more expected to fly on July 4 and 5. This demonstrates the importance of planning ahead and being prepared for potential crowds and delays during peak travel periods.
