Empowering Seniors: El Paso’s Health Department Hosts Innovative Technology Event

The El Paso Department of Public Health (DPH) is hosting a technology and innovation event at the Fabens Senior Center to provide educational topics on new technology tools available to help seniors use their cell phones for health-related purposes. With the goal of teaching seniors how to track physical activity, add emergency contacts, and set up automatic 911 calls in case of emergencies, the event will feature eight educators on hand to assist and answer any questions.

Rosalyn Negron, a public health education and prevention specialist with the City of El Paso, emphasized the importance of raising awareness and providing access to technology features for the older generation. The session will be divided into two groups – one for seniors with iOS phones and one for those without Apple phones. The event is set to kick off at 10:00 a.m. at the Fabens Senior Center, offering valuable information and resources to help reduce health disparities in El Paso communities.

The DPH’s CDC Health Equity Grant has funded this event as part of their effort to cover the entire El Paso County and provide valuable resources and classes for the community. More information and resources available can be found on the DPH website.
