A training session on Youth Mental Health First Aid will be held at the Cottonwood County Historical Society in Windom on April 20. The event is led by facilitators from the University of Nebraska Medical Center and is specifically designed for individuals who work with young people. The program will be offered in Spanish to reach a broader audience.
During the training, which runs from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., attendees will learn how to recognize signs of mental illness, identify signs of substance use disorder, offer support during a mental health crisis, and engage in conversations with family and friends about mental health. This training is intended for adults only and includes a light breakfast served at 7:30 a.m., as well as lunch provided for all participants.
In addition to gaining valuable skills, participants will also receive a $25 gift card and a certificate of participation upon completion of the training.
