Fulton Police Use Drone Technology to Locate Missing Vulnerable Person

Drone Used in Successful Missing Person Rescue in New York City

In New York, the Fulton Police Department was successful in locating a missing vulnerable person using a drone. The person was reported missing by their family on Monday evening and the police quickly mobilized a drone operator to assist in the search and rescue effort.

The drone was deployed around 7:50 p.m. to cover a wooded area near the 600 block of Gansvoort Street. With the use of thermal imaging, the drone operator was able to locate the missing person at approximately 8:12 p.m. The operator then directed ground units to the location where the person was found in good health and helped out of the woods by officers.

Deputy Chief Chris Dempsey emphasized the importance of using cutting-edge technology for the safety of both the community and officers in this successful recovery effort.
