Dragon Ball Z: From Gamescom to Theme Parks – How Anime and Video Games are Revolutionizing Saudi Arabia’s Entertainment Scene

In Cologne, Germany, the 2019 Gamescom gaming trade fair was held and visitors had the chance to try out the latest version of Dragon Ball Z Kakarot. The excitement around the game was palpable as fans were able to experience the popular anime series in a new way. Meanwhile, in Saudi Arabia, plans are being made for the construction of a first-ever Dragon Ball Z theme park as part of the kingdom’s Qiddiya project. This massive entertainment venue will span over 5.3 million square feet and feature seven different areas inspired by the original anime series. With over 30 themed rides, hotels, and restaurants, this theme park is set to be a major tourist attraction in the region.

The Dragon Ball Z theme park will include five “world first” rides, including a 230-foot-high roller coaster named Shenron. This park is just one example of Saudi Arabia’s growing interest in video games and anime, with significant investments being made to bring these popular forms of entertainment to audiences in the kingdom.

Qiddiya itself is planned as a city located in Riyadh that spans over 360 square kilometers and offers over 400 attractions including golf courses, theme parks, and hotels.
