Finnish rally driver Kalle Rovanpera, who won the world championship twice in a row for Toyota, is taking a break next season. Rovanpera, 24, reached a multi-year agreement with the Japanese manufacturer and will only be participating in some events next year. He stated that he has been driving rally cars for 15 years and feels it’s time to recharge after two demanding seasons.
Rovanpera is looking forward to trying out different forms of motorsport during his break, including drifting. Meanwhile, eight-time world champion Sebastien Ogier from France will continue part-time with Toyota. For the full-time drivers in 2024, Wales’ Elfyn Evans and Japan’s Takamoto Katsuta have been announced. Evans has finished as a runner-up three times in the last four years and is determined to improve his performance next season.
