Meet the Science Heroes at the Cuba Library on July 10th

Discover the Fascinating World of Wild Mushrooms and Science on the Wild Mushroom Hike and STEM Workshops at Cuba Circulating Library

The Cuba Circulating Library is hosting a Wild Mushroom Hike at Bush Hill State Forest on July 13. Participants will learn about mushroom anatomy, habitat, and species identification during the guided foray and mushroom identification hike led by NYSOGA licensed hiking guides Sam Warren and Brandon Miller, both of whom have NY Wild Mushroom Safety Certifications and over 25 years of combined foraging experience. The event is free to attend but requires registration due to limited space.

In addition to the Wild Mushroom Hike, the library is also hosting interactive STEM workshops for all ages. On July 10 at 1:00 pm, audience members can participate in science experiments that bring the story of the Lost Treasure to life. Teens ages 12-18 are invited to a workshop at 3:00 pm to try out cool experiments using leaf blowers, confetti cannons, liquid foam, nail polish remover, and more. Registration is required for the teen workshop but not necessary for the 1:00 program, which is open to all ages without registration. Both programs are funded by a grant from United Way of Cattaraugus and Allegany County.

The Wild Mushroom Hike and STEM workshops offer exciting learning opportunities for participants of all ages. Don’t miss out on these fun and educational events taking place at the Cuba Circulating Library!
