Rudy Giuliani’s Law License Revoked in New York

Disbarred: Giuliani Faces Criminal Charges for Promoting Baseless Election Fraud Claims

The New York appeals court has ruled that Rudy Giuliani, the former personal lawyer to ex-President Donald Trump, has been disbarred “effective immediately” due to his actions in promoting baseless claims of election fraud in the 2020 elections.

The court’s ruling stated that Giuliani’s name will be removed from the roll of attorneys and counselors-at-law in the State of New York, preventing the 80-year-old former New York City mayor from practicing law in the state. The court criticized Giuliani for making “false and misleading statements to courts, lawmakers, and the public at large” as part of his representation of Trump and the Trump campaign during the 2020 election.

Giuliani was accused of misusing his position as Trump’s attorney to repeatedly and intentionally make false statements and attack the integrity of the electoral process. The court highlighted the seriousness of Giuliani’s actions, noting that his behavior had contributed to the national strife that followed the 2020 election.

Giuliani’s attorneys did not provide an immediate response to the court’s decision. In addition to being disbarred, Giuliani is also facing criminal charges in Arizona and Georgia related to his efforts to challenge the 2020 election results. Last year, Giuliani filed for bankruptcy after being ordered to pay $148 million to two Georgia election workers he had defamed.
