Expansion of SacValley MedShare HIE Partnership by Dignity Health Spreads Across California

Dignity Health Partners with SacValley MedShare to Expand Statewide Health Information Exchange

Dignity Health, a multi-state nonprofit network, has recently partnered with SacValley MedShare, a health information exchange and qualified health information organization (QHIO) in California. Originally operating within Northern California, SacValley MedShare has been facilitating the secure exchange of health information among healthcare providers for over a decade, supporting population health initiatives in the region. With the new partnership, SacValley MedShare will now be extending its health data exchange services to 30 hospitals across the state, significantly increasing the reach of health information sharing within the communities where Dignity Health operates.

According to John Helvey, the executive director of SacValley MedShare, expanding to a statewide level is a natural progression for the organization. The alliance with Dignity Health will enhance their capabilities, allowing for more effective innovation and collaboration in healthcare delivery throughout California. Adnan Hamid, the California Regional CIO of CommonSpirit Health, emphasizes their commitment to transforming healthcare through innovative partnerships and technology. Working with SacValley MedShare aligns with their vision of creating a healthier future for all by improving access to vital health information.

The partnership with SacValley MedShare will help Dignity Health comply with AB133 regulations, ensuring adherence to California’s health Data Exchange Framework. This framework represents a significant step forward in California being the first-ever statewide data-sharing agreement of its kind. CalHHS views this framework as essential for achieving the state’s healthcare transformation goals, expanding coverage and improving connections between healthcare and social services. The partnership between these two organizations signifies their dedication towards improving patient care through better communication and collaboration among healthcare providers.
