Health officials in Indiana are investigating severe acute illnesses that may be linked to the consumption of chocolate bars, cones, and gummies manufactured by Diamond Shruumz. These products, which contain a proprietary blend of mushrooms, have been sold online and at various retail locations throughout the country.
As of June 24, 2024, there have been a total of 39 reported illnesses from 20 states, resulting in 23 hospitalizations. Three confirmed cases have been reported in Indiana, although no deaths have been reported. Individuals who became ill after consuming these products experienced a range of severe symptoms, such as seizures, loss of consciousness, confusion, sleepiness, agitation, abnormal heart rates, changes in blood pressure, nausea, and vomiting.
If someone falls ill after consuming these products, they should seek medical attention immediately. Symptoms should be reported to the Indiana Poison Center at 1-800-222-1222.
