U.S. News and World Report has just released its annual list of the top 10 best cities to live in for 2024, and Delaware, the First State, has made the rankings. While it falls in the middle of the pack this year, Delaware performed better than some of its neighbors in certain categories.
According to the report, Delaware ranked fourth in fiscal stability, ninth in healthcare, and 21st in economy. However, it was lower in infrastructure, crime and corrections, education, and natural environment. The report gives more weight to categories that matter most to residents, such as healthcare and education, followed by state economies, infrastructure, and opportunities for residents. Fiscal stability and measures of crime and corrections were also taken into consideration.
When compared to its neighbors, Delaware outperformed Pennsylvania which came in at 40th overall while Maryland was ranked 22nd overall. New Jersey ranked ahead of Delaware at 14th overall.
