In celebration of its 25th anniversary, the nonprofit organization Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP) recently hosted a Guinness World Record-breaking event at New York’s famous Plaza Hotel. The event featured an impressive 353 ballerinas en pointe at the same time, breaking the previous record of 309 dancers, including talk show host Kelly Ripa.
The main goal of this remarkable achievement was to highlight the healing power of dance and bring people together during times of disconnection. Sergey Gordeev, director of external affairs at YAGP, shared with Gothamist that “dance is a healing force” and “a power that brings us connection.”
During the event, all 353 ballerinas went en pointe for a full minute, demonstrating their incredible skill and dedication to their craft. This moment not only set a new world record but also emphasized the importance of dance as a unifying and uplifting art form that can bring people together in a positive way.
