Crazy Taxi Reboot Unveiled as Large-Scale, Open-World Multiplayer Game: Get Ready for More Stunts and Thrills!

Sega has announced that they are working on a reboot of the popular Crazy Taxi game series. The new game is described as an open-world, massively multiplayer AAA title. Crazy Taxi first appeared in arcades in 1999 and later found success on consoles like the Dreamcast. Players take on the role of a taxi driver who races through the city to deliver passengers to their destinations while performing stunts for extra points.

During The Game Awards 2023, Sega revealed new games in franchises like Jet Set Radio, Shinobi, Golden Axe, Streets of Rage, and Crazy Taxi. The teaser trailer showcased brief gameplay clips of each of these returning games. In a developer-focused video interview, Sega shared more details about the Crazy Taxi reboot, confirming it as a large-scale, open-world, massively multiplayer driving game powered by Unreal Engine.

Producer Kenji Kanno stated that the new Crazy Taxi will support multiplayer gameplay, while still staying true to the classic Crazy Taxi style. The game will feature a theme park-like map and draw inspiration from the U.S. West Coast. The teaser image of a player driving a police car suggests there will be new modes in the game. While no official release date has been announced for the Crazy Taxi reboot or the other new games, fans are excited for what Sega has in store.
