On Tuesday, the Coronado coastline was reopened to the public after improved water quality samples were announced by the county Department of Environmental Health and Quality. However, other coastlines remained closed due to high levels of bacteria. The closures included Tijuana Slough, Imperial Beach, and Silver Strand from the International Border to south of Avenida Lunar. Authorities advised the public to avoid water contact in these areas as sewage contamination could lead to illness.
In addition to the closures, advisories were also issued for the La Jolla Children’s Pool and Ocean Beach’s dog beach. The advisories warned the public of potential health risks from water contamination and advised against water contact in these locations as well. Late Monday afternoon, officials confirmed that the samples met state health standards, allowing for the beach to be reopened.
