Congressman Cohen Celebrates Tri-State Community Health Center’s Receipt of Grant to Expand Healthcare Access in Memphis

Congressman Steve Cohen of TN-9 announced today that Tri-State Community Health Center will be receiving a grant of $1,416,200 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The lack of Medicaid expansion in Tennessee puts a strain on financially burdened hospitals who are left to provide high levels of uncompensated care to uninsured individuals. This also prevents Tennesseans from fully benefiting from a federal program that they already contribute to through their tax dollars. Congressman Cohen emphasized the critical need that Tri-State Community Health Center fulfills by serving many individuals who do not have access to affordable health insurance due to Tennessee’s failure to expand its Medicaid program, TennCare.

This grant will help Tri-State Community Health Center continue their efforts in providing much needed healthcare services to the underserved population in Memphis.
