Lola’s Fundraiser supports Charleston small business following devastating fire

Community Comes Together to Support Backus Family Devastated by Fire

On March 18, a devastating fire left the Backus family homeless in Charleston, West Virginia. The family of eight children and their parents lost everything in the blaze. However, they are not alone as the community is coming together to support them during this difficult time.

Corey Austin, a manager at Lola’s on Bridge Road, has known the Backus family for years and expressed his love for them and their children. In an effort to help the family rebuild their lives, Lola’s has decided to donate all proceeds from Tuesday evening directly to the Backus family. All sales from that evening will go towards helping the family recover from the fire. Additionally, Lola’s will continue to accept donations for the Backus family throughout the week.

The Backus family owns Liberty Roe Children’s Clothier and Toy Co., and their business is located in the South Hills area. The community is coming together to support them during this time of need by donating money and other resources to help them get back on their feet.

The outpouring of support and generosity from Lola’s and others in the community is a testament to the strength and compassion of Charleston residents during crisis situations.
