Comic Book Industry Veteran Jim Viscardi Joins Image Comics as VP of Business Development

Jim Viscardi, a well-known figure in the comic book industry, has been appointed as the VP of Business Development at Image Comics. He was previously hired by the publisher of The Walking Dead. Viscardi co-founded comibook.com in 2015 and later sold it to CBS Interactive, where he managed editorial strategy and helped it become a prominent platform.

At Image Comics, Viscardi will report to Eric Stephenson, who serves as both the publisher and chief creative officer. In a statement, Viscardi expressed his excitement about joining Image Comics and contributing to its legacy of fostering creative independence and strategic business growth that benefits partners in the Direct Market and beyond. He emphasized the importance of pushing boundaries, inspiring innovation, and amplifying the voices of creators worldwide.

Before joining Image Comics, Viscardi worked at Marvel Entertainment where he was involved in marketing, communications, and retailer relations. Notable projects during his time at Marvel included the 2012 Avengers vs. X-Men event and the introduction of Miles Morales as Spider-Man in 2011. Stephenson mentioned that he first met Viscardi around a decade ago and admired his passion for comics. Despite their paths not crossing earlier, both are now looking forward to collaborating at Image Comics.

Image Comics was founded in 1992 by seven top Marvel artists who wanted comic book creators to retain ownership of the characters they created. Over the years, Image has become known for its unique titles such as Spawn, Invincible, and Saga. With Viscardi on board, the company is likely to continue its tradition of supporting creativity and empowering artists.
