Coller Capital Expands Data Science Team, Seeks New Hire to Develop Private Equity Tools for Multi-Million Dollar Deals

Coller Capital, a well-established secondaries firm in the market, is expanding its tech platform and seeking to hire an additional data scientist to join its team. The position, based in London, will involve working closely with data, machine-learning, and software engineers as well as investment professionals to develop data-driven private equity tools.

The main responsibilities of the role include implementing predictive models and algorithms, conducting quantitative analysis and creating tools that can impact multi-million dollar deals. Ideal candidates for the position are required to have a master’s or PhD degree in computer science or a STEM subject. Josh Lowe, a principal at Coller Capital leads the firm’s data science team which currently consists of three other data scientists.

One of Coller’s former data scientists Harry Vander Elst departed the firm in 2020 to establish RockSling Analytics before joining Clipway as a partner. The opening for a new data scientist is not a replacement for Vander Elst according to a source familiar with the situation.

Coller Capital is known for its history of innovation in private markets secondaries and has been leveraging over 30 years of proprietary data in its investment process. A spokesperson for the firm emphasized the importance of their data science team in providing quantitative analysis that enhances investment decision making. With the industry trend towards incorporating data science and artificial intelligence capabilities, Coller is dedicated to growing its team and investing in talent to stay ahead in the market.
