Children’s Pain and Fever Medications Recalled Due to Health Concerns
KinderFarms, LLC has announced a recall of all lots of KinderMed Infants’ Pain & Fever (oral suspension) and KinderMed Kids’ Pain & Fever (oral suspension) due to a potential health risk associated with acetaminophen instability. The two products were manufactured by a major U.S.-based OTC pharmaceutical manufacturer and packaged by KinderFarms, LLC.
Ongoing testing of sample batches revealed that some product lots were no longer within the required specifications and may pose a health risk. The impacted products include all lots of KinderMed Infants’ Pain & Fever (2 fluid ounces/59 mL), (Acetaminophen – 160 mg per 5 mL), Oral Suspension, and KinderMed Kids’ Pain & Fever (4 fluid ounces/118 mL), (Acetaminophen – 160 mg per 5 mL), Oral Suspension.
The recall was initiated out of an abundance of caution, as acetaminophen instability can cause acute adverse health effects at higher doses, including abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting or jaundice. However, Kindermed has not received any reports of serious adverse events from either product to date.
The products are available nationwide in drugstores, supermarkets, direct delivery services and national retailers and online through major e-commerce sites. Consumers who purchased either product should stop using them immediately and return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
