In recent news, Chelsea has completed the signing of Omari Kellyman from Aston Villa in a deal worth up to £19m. The 18-year-old midfielder has signed a six-year contract with an option for an additional 12 months at Stamford Bridge.
Kellyman, who has minimal first-team appearances with Villa, had been part of their academy since 2022 following a decade-long spell with Derby County. He has represented England at the Under-20 level on two occasions and is excited to join Chelsea, stating that it’s “fantastic” to be standing here as a Chelsea player.”
This move marks the teen’s transition to London and comes on the heels of left-back Ian Maatsen’s £35m move to Villa Park just a day prior. Additionally, Morocco winger Hakim Ziyech permanently joined Galatasaray from Chelsea earlier in the week after a loan spell at the Turkish club last season.
Chelsea continues to make strategic moves in the transfer market to strengthen their squad for upcoming competitions. This signing of Kellyman shows their commitment towards building a strong team for future successes.
