Cantlay’s Hat Takes Center Stage in Latest Report
Goldman Sachs has opted not to renew its contract with golfer Patrick Cantlay, who it signed in 2020. Cantlay initially represented the bank’s online consumer banking platform, Marcus, on his headwear, but more recently has only featured the Goldman name. A spokesperson for the bank confirmed that the logo will no longer appear on Cantlay’s hat.
This news comes just a few months after rumors swirled that Cantlay was refusing to wear a hat at the Ryder Cup out of protest for not being paid to compete in the international team competition. However, Cantlay denied these claims and said that he wasn’t wearing a hat because the team’s headwear didn’t fit well.
In addition to this controversy, Cantlay was also taken off the final commitment list for the Hero World Challenge in two weeks in the Bahamas along with friend Xander Schauffele. It is unclear why he was removed from the event.
