
CAA Women’s Basketball Weekly Awards: November 20th
The CAA has revealed its weekly women’s basketball awards for the second week of the 2023-24 season. This week, the Player of the Week is Chaniya Clark from North Carolina A&T, and the Rookie of the Week is Laine McGurk from Drexel.
Chaniya Clark, a redshirt sophomore from North Carolina A&T, played an integral role in her team’s 2-0 week, including a win over Wake Forest and another victory over Liberty. She averaged 13.5 points and 8.5 rebounds per game and earned a double-double in the game against Liberty, with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Her impressive performances have helped North Carolina A&T secure three straight wins.
Laine McGurk, a freshman from Drexel, also put in a strong effort, averaging 15.0 points and 4.0 rebounds per game. She had double-digit points in three recent games and was instrumental in a 71-46 win over La Salle.
The previous week’s Player of the Week was Khari Clark from Stony Brook, while Darrionna Howard from Delaware won Rookie of the Week honors. These awards highlight the talent and depth in the CAA women’s basketball division.
