CAA Sports Secures 12 First-Round Picks in the NFL Draft, Overtaking Athletes First’s Four-Year Reign

This year, the NFL Draft saw a significant impact from CAA Sports, as they secured 12 first-round picks. This marked the end of Athletes First’s four-year reign and highlighted their success. The agency was particularly successful in placing North Carolina QB Drake Maye with the Patriots at the third overall pick. Notably, this year’s top pick, USC QB Caleb Williams, was represented by his father, Carl Williams. This trend of parental representation with top prospects like Ohio State WR Marvin Harrison Jr., son of Football HOFer Marvin Harrison, also being selected in the top five added excitement to the draft.

WME Sports and Athletes First each had four first-round picks, while Excel Football and Wasserman had two each. CAA also had the most top-five picks, including Notre Dame OT Joe Alt going to the Chargers at number five. Despite other agencies such as WME and Athletes First being involved in the draft, CAA agent Patrick Collins represented five players during this year’s draft, making him stand out among other agents.

The draft featured a diverse range of schools, with LSU, Alabama, and Washington each having three picks in the first round. QBs took the top three spots in this year’s draft, with Williams going to the Bears as an NFL rookie QB alongside LSU’s Jayden Daniels who went to Washington Commanders and Maye going to New England Patriots respectively. This showcased a new wave of talent entering the NFL and added excitement to one of sports biggest events of the year.

Overall, this year’s NFL Draft was marked by CAA Sports dominance with their 12 first-round picks surpassing their own previous record set in 2018. The success of different agencies and schools added excitement to the event as it showcased new talent entering football scene.
